Weekly Blog Post: Inspiration 2/6

One artist I find particularly inspiration is Howard Finster. He is an American artist and a Baptist preacher.  I think he's super cool because he uses this folky-pop artist art form in order to spread the gospel in his own unique way despite the social norm for religious artworks. He has entered a field of very liberal art forms, and he uses this form to display his beliefs and do what he feels he has been called to do, creating interesting pieces in the process. I, especially, admire his style of work and how each of his pieces is clearly his. I hope to develop my own artist style over time, and I am very interested in the styles of other artists.

Weekly Blog Post: Inspiration due 1/30

I am a ridiculous Bob Ross fan. I admire the way he starts with a blank canvas and just begins to paint and allow the medium to do all the work. I also admire his calm mindset and how stress free he paints. I, personally, prefer to mimic this painting method by starting with a blank canvas to start my landscape paintings, which are my absolute favorite form of art. I think that landscapes are underrated in their critique. Many believe landscapes are boring and dull, but they're my favorite form of art due to the fact that each artist has their own style of painting, even if its photorealistic, all artists leave behind their mark and highlight what they find beautiful in nature.

Weekly Blog Post: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly 1/24

THE BAD: This logo bothers me due to the fact that it doesn't convey the application very well. It gives Snapchat, an app usually seen as fun and playful, an eery  feel.
THE GOOD: I, especially, enjoy the look of older, vintage advertisements. The style of these images inspire me, and I truly believe this style creates a great image no matter what it is advertising or displaying.
THE UGLY: This advertisement had me cringing upon first sight. Although this advertisement contains a vivid image displaying the overall message well, it is disturbing to look at, which takes away from the meaning of the ad.
